Can't wait for Chapter 5 of the Tales of Monkey Island. Should come out on Dec. 8th if I remember correctly. Episodes 1-4 have been fun and genuinely funny experiences so far.

Muramasa: Momohime

Jinkuro posessed Momohime's body and showed me how much of a badass the Oboro style of fighting can be in Muramasa: the Demon Blade. Seriously fun game and the art was amazing every step of the way. For those of you with a Wii, you can't go wrong with buying it.

This was done as my half of an art trade with Vicewolf over at deviantART. Fun times and I love how the piece turned out.

Bomber Blueprints Update

I decided the layout of the Bomber Blueprints DA Journal wasn't as cool as it could be, so I revamped the layout and design of the page. Now the Robot Masters are shown in metal frames (Mega Man 3 style) in the order they are shown in their respective Stage Select screens.

It was pretty hilarious setting it up. I used Wood Man's frame as a placeholder while I put in all the links and whatnot. I thought to myself, that would be a pretty easy game... All 8 bosses Wood Man? HA

This also leaves me with a spot in the middle of each set of 8 for an extra picture. I will most likely set each one to an appropriate character. Here's what i'm thinking:

2 Dr. Light
3 Roll
4 Dr. Cossack
5 Protoman
6 Dr. Wily
7 Auto
8 Duo
9 Megaman (newer pic)

I've also gotten some new drawings of bosses...ones of the MegaMan 9 variety!

Sweet! Finished the pic! It's everyone's favorite "outta-shape islander man in a hat with a grass skirt that rides a skateboard and dinosaurs"! Hope everyone likes it! I sure do!

Picked up the new game for the Wii too. Pretty difficult, pretty fun.

Here's a tip: Buy the double jump first.

What's next up? You could say it's... "big" and "shocking". :)

Lazy Weekend

Road-tripped this weekend and went to see Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince and Moon. Both were excellent movies!

I'm going to be working on a few things this week and I should even be working on setting up a livestream session to see me color something. DA just released their portfolio thing too, so I will be looking into that as well.

Battle!

It seems as if a heated battle has broken out due to the blog post I put up yesterday. A classic rivalry has spawned in the middle of an observation and the two parties are not very happy about it. Goomba doesn't want to be left out, and Buzzy Beetle says he earned his place in the 2nd play-through.

Goomba and Buzzy Beetle will be going head to head in a 1 round match that will last up until this Sunday Sunday SUNDAY!!!

VOTE HERE to determine the winner!!!

Buzzy Beetle isn't worried and says he thinks he's in no danger at all. His is extremely tough and is even fireproof. He may even have a few tricks up his shell concerning spinning. He's one tough competitor!

Goomba is a wily character and is determined to retain his place in the game. We expect him to attempt to utilize his [slight] speed advantage over Buzzy Beetle to work in his favor and he's even been working on his jumping.

This will be one to watch!

Lament of the 2nd Run-Through

I completely forgot that on the second play-through after you beat Super Mario Bros. all of the Goombas are gone! Vanished from the maze of pixels in the Mushroom Kingdom! Dastardly Buzzy Beetles are in their stead, marching endlessly in their gloss black fireproof shells to the beat of some unknown drummer. It is a serious crime that hundreds of Goombas, without notice, go missing every day the Princess is saved. You can do something about it to help.

After plowing through the 8 levels (what? no warp pipes?) you will finally reach the silver bricked halls of Bowser's Castle. A harrowing labyrinth of pipes and lava are at every turn. The Koopa King himself will be spitting fire and throwing a shit-ton of hammers. When and if you do save the ?thankful? Princess, upon her blunt prompt to press the B button, hit Reset instead. You'll be saving all those Goombas lives and they will be thankful to continue getting screen time... temporarily. Trust me. They care.

Adventure Island and Fantasy Zone

Sweet awesomeness, who else remembers Adventure Island? I especially remember seeing it in the arcade when I was little, then repeatedly renting Adventure Island II for the NES. Really hard game if you ask me. I haven't finished it before (without save states), but then again, i really haven't tried in years...

So out of the blue I feel like drawing some Master Higgins. Rockin! He came out rather nicely... and just yesterday they release a new Adventure Island game for WiiWare... how cool could that be?

I'm thinkin of adding some dinosaurs in the pic, cuz they were always a favorite part for me...

Since i'm feelin' retro, just last night I sat down and doodled out some Fantasy Zone action!

NOTE: WITHOUT REFERENCE...

I think I like how it's turning out so far, but going back to the internet today to look for references, I came across this picture...

Now, if I had finished it like it was, the resemblance would have been pretty close... Even the posing of the little Opa-Opa is very similar, with the jet trails curving back.

The similarity is almost creepy... maybe i'm channeling 1980's japanese game artists?

This was drawn and inked by my girlfriend/fiancee, and I got to do the colors for it. Fun times, and I like how it turned out. :)

Even Mega-er Monday Night

Okay, so from start to finish Mega Man took around 2 hours once I got him into photoshop. Prep time was probably 10-15 minutes tightening the sketch and pre-shading it.

I was recording the whole process at the time, and would probably have been faster if I hadn't been recording and if i'd used any of my Photoshop Actions, but i'm extremely pleased with the way it turned out. Dedicated to my special someone. <3

Mega Monday

Hey hey, got to really workin on some Mega Man bosses last night.
Kinda sorta planning how I want the effects/shading/lighting to go as i'm laying all the flats. FUN

As with all the Bomber Blueprints, there will be no outlines in the finished pieces.

Gemini Man! Now this dude's gonna be AAAAWWesome when i'm done. SHINY SHINY. Always liked this guy. Mega Man 3 = love.

Little ol' Ice Man is a chilly parka-bot. Don't sit too close to Elec Man or he'll melt your face off...

Ring Man in da houze. He'll have quite a bit of shine to those rings, but the rest of him will have a slightly matte finish to the metal so the rings seem even shinier.

Gawd, his color scheme is even more schizo than Napalm Man's... Still working on it. You can see where I haven't gotten his neck or collar thing done yet.

I'll post more when I get them flatted/finished. :)

Been kinda slow on the art lately, but here's an update.

Working on another one of Dapper Dan's Bomber Blueprints pics. This one's obviously Bomb Man. I'm thinking I may do several bosses up to the flats before I start shading them, giving me a chunk to work on instead of starting fresh with each one. We'll see. I'm liking how he's coming out.

This is coming along nicely as well. Still needs more.

This was me last week. We had no power due to an ice storm. There was enough juice in the generator to run a heater, fluorescent light, and a small TV to watch LOST. It wasn't really that cold, but at one point it felt like it.

I drew this lil Rocketeer during the same power-less few days without a reference. He's missing the helmet vents and some rivets, but i'm pleased with how he turned out. Gotta love that movie!

I'm breaking back into the February Draw-Every-Day Challenge over at the Sketch Tavern again. Fun times already! This is a do-over of the Mario drawing I did for the 1st. Much better if you ask me. Wa-Hooooo!!!!

Atomic Robo is a fantastic comic, one of my all-time favorites! He's such a fun character, and he's always so witty. Go check out the comic if you haven't read it! also, flying skull things surely aren't uncommon to Robo. (heehee.. He's fun to draw :D)
